I recently visited the town of Marfa in the Big Bend region of Texas, which by the way, is well over 600 miles from my homestead in East Texas.
To give you some perspective, that is equal to driving from Marfa, Texas all the way to Phoenix, Arizona and crossing two state lines!
During this visit, I made sure to stop by the Prada Marfa art sculpture, and, since I see myself more of a Lucchese girl than a Prada girl, took the following picture.
And in case you are wondering, the boots are Lucchese; much to the chagrin of Mr. Padilly, who gave them to me as a gift. I trucked all around the high desert of the Trans-Pecos in them. They are way more comfortable than my tennis shoes, and can take the dirt.
I thought this we be a perfect spot to leave one of my Padilly rocks. Hope it didn’t end up in the ditch…
You have NO IDEA how excited I was when the Amtrak train passed us by, blowing its horn!
The only other time I saw Prada Marfa was when I was on that very train in 2012, heading from Houston to Los Angeles. As I understand it, the train passes by twice a day…what are the odds!
Of course seeing the train had me jumping and waving like a five-year-old, and I can only image the scene from the train.
You gotta love Big Bend Country…
