ROADTRIPS

Prada Marfa, Texas

Traveling to the Big Bend region of Texas is well over 600 miles from our homestead in East Texas. To give you some perspective, that is equal to driving from Marfa, Texas all the way to Phoenix, Arizona and crossing two state lines!

One of my bucket list items was to get a photo in front of the Prada Marfa art sculpture, and, since I’m more of a Lucchese girl than a Prada girl, I took this picture.

And if you are wondering, the boots are Lucchese, and I trucked all around the high desert of the Trans-Pecos in them. Hands down they are way more comfortable than my tennis shoes, and can handle the dirt.

I thought this we be a perfect spot to leave one of my Padilly rocks.

But truth be told, I did see Prada Marfa once before when I was traveling on an Amtrak train in 2012, heading from Houston to Los Angeles.  You have no idea HOW EXCITED I was when the Amtrak train passed us by, blowing its horn! As I understand it, the train passes by twice a day…what are the odds!

You gotta love Big Bend Country. I know I do. Just wish I didn’t wait 40 years before my first visit…
